About the Library

The Robert A. Chase Library and Museum was established as a place where history, literature, art and science meet together and is dedicated to surgery of the hand and upper limb. Its mission is to collect, appraise, organize, describe, preserve and make accessible literature, textual records, imagery, objects, artwork and other materials of enduring value in all formats that reflect the rich heritage of hand surgeons, the hand as an instrument of human creativity, science of hand surgery and the development of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).
